There are many options to purchase gear (quad skates and safety equipment) for roller derby.
We recommend speed skates or the made-for-derby Reidell 265s.
For more inexperienced skaters,
we recommend talking to either some of the girls on the league
or contacting Sin City Skates or Fast Girl Skates directly. The
staff at either store can help rookies (or veterans) decide on
what skates are right for them, as well as show them some awesome
Rookie Package deals. Your skates can be whatever you like but
to compete in our scrimmages, bouts and combative practice drills,
we require helmets, mouthparts, wrist guards, elbow pads and knee
pads. Padded shorts or other gear to protect your tailbone are
not required but definitely helpful.
Recommended quad skates and gear vendors include:
* Sin City Skates ph # 702-892-9482
* Fast Girl Skates ph # 206-274-8250
* Skates.com
* Connie's Skate Place
* Low Price Skates
Occasionally you may be able to find skates or gear on ebay or other online auction sites.
Locally, we have a few skateboard shops that may be able to help (Prestige, Newt & Harrolds, BIBS, the Boardroom). These shops may be able to help you with general questions, but they are more geared towards the skate boarder demographic rather than roller derby.
In addition to skates and gear, you can also find some great accessories and apparel at the following stores:
* Rink Rash Skatewear
* Sock Dreams |
